Funding allows Salvaged Creations Wales to go online

Families in Markham are celebrating after Pobl’s community team helped Salvaged Creations Wales secure funding from Community Foundation Wales which will allow them to continue providing much needed support to combat loneliness and social isolation through digital channels.

The project uses innovative and creative hands in workshops using salvaged and reclaimed materials to upcycle everyday waste into practical and unique household craft items.

As well as minimising waste to maximise environmental benefits, by conserving materials, reducing landfill waste and saving energy it helps people to save money, develop new skills and creates job opportunities.

The funding from the “Wales Coronavirus Resilience Fund” has allowed the project to expand its delivery model, providing much needed support to combat loneliness and social isolation through digital channels. The funding will provide free home starter kits, joining instructions and a link to the live website feeds to deliver;

  • Fortnightly craft projects that the whole family can take part in.
  • Weekly children’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities and projects.
  • Information and advice on DIY craft projects through regular Facebook live Q&A sessions.

Well done to Dafydd Hellard, Pobl’s Community Development Facillitator in the area, for helping to keep the group connected.
