Pobl Trust spreading Christmas cheer
We are delighted to confirm that Pobl Trust has handed over a £1000 donation to the South Wales Evening Post Christmas Campaign, helping to make the festive season more enjoyable for some of the most vulnerable people in Swansea.
The donation was made ahead of the holiday period and will be put towards the creation of Christmas hampers which will enable those who may have had to do without this Christmas to enjoy some of the festive feeling.
Cath Weller, Director, Pobl Trust, said:
“Pobl Trust is a charity within the Pobl Group and our aim is to improve the lives of people in the communities where the group works. We are delighted to be able to donate £1,000 from our funds to the South Wales Evening Post Christmas Campaign, a wonderful cause which will make a difference to so many people this Christmas.”
The donation has been welcomed by Julie James AM, who said:
“As the Assembly Member for Swansea West and Minister for Housing & Local Government I have been supporting the South Wales Evening Post Christmas Campaign aimed at feeding the most vulnerable in Swansea. Life is hard for the vulnerable in our City all year round, but much harder when you have higher utility costs in the winter trying to keep warm and feed your loved ones at Christmas.
“In partnership with Carolyn Harris the MP for Swansea East we have worked closely with many organisations in the City, Swansea AFC Community Trust, Ospreys in the Community, Low Cost Vans, South Wales Evening Post, Coastal Housing, Co–op stores and Morrisons all of them helping everyone who is vulnerable in our communities so they are supported in some small way through the festive season.
“One of the donors this year was the Pobl Trust who donated £1,000 to the Christmas Campaign fund. The Trust raises money through fundraising events and the Pobl Lottery – a weekly prize draw for Pobl Group staff, which donates 50% of proceeds to the Pobl Trust.
“Trustees agreed unanimously to support this wonderful initiative and myself and Carolyn were delighted to accept this amazing gesture to help the most vulnerable in our community this Christmas. I’d like to personally thank everyone involved in the Trust who make a huge difference to people’s lives, this year alone they awarded up to £200,000 to good causes in areas where the Pobl Group works.”
