Celebrating Success & Dedication

Huge congratulations to Gail Gilley, Support Worker at Llys y Seren, our residential care home in Port Talbot. Last week, Gail was awarded First Prize in the Carers Celebration Event, organised by Bespoke Consultancy Education.

Back in August, the Llys y Seren team nominated Gail for the “Empowering Others Award” and were delighted to find out that she was the worthy winner.

Judged by Dr Jane Townson, CEO at United Homecare Association and Neil Chandler, Relationship Director in Health & Social Care at Barclays Bank, Gail was recognised for the fact that she has designed a raised dish for individuals with dementia, which enables them to eat more easily and independently.

The judges were also impressed with Gail’s use of flash cards, which help the people she supports to communicate more freely.

After being shortlisted, Gail was invited to an online ceremony, where she found out that she had won 1st prize.  She was congratulated by Luke Spiller, Lead Signer of The Struts and Radio 3’s Gary Davies. They commended her on the wonderful work she has done, acknowledging her efforts on Llys y Seren’s dedicated dementia unit.

Karen Rogers, Manager at Llys y Seren agreed wholeheartedly with the judges and presenters, commenting, “Gail is so very dedicated to her work.

“She never finishes on time and is constantly looking for new ideas to help her support our residents.”

Gail won two exciting adventure experiences as well as three large soft toys. What a wonderful surprise for Gail – who is a real asset to Pobl’s Care & Support Services. Congratulations from everyone at Pobl!
