Clarendon Makeover: Our Plans
Clarendon is one of Pobl’s student accommodation buildings on Aberystwyth seafront – and it’s getting a makeover!
On the outside, it’s a beautiful Victorian building. The type of building that screams seaside promenade, chips, ice cream and fun. On the inside, it has been converted into 110 en-suite student rooms.
It has heaps of potential and it’s in an amazing location, but over the years, the interior has become tired and dated. But not anymore!
Last week, Pobl took over the management of the building from the University and as soon as the student accommodation team got the keys, their full programme of refurbishment started.
So, what are the plans?
The old seafront building is getting a revamp! We are stripping out all of the old furniture including the wooden wardrobes, bulky desks and small beds. They’re being replaced with sleek, modern white furniture and brand new, comfortable queen-sized beds.
In addition to this, the whole place is being re-carpeted, doing away with the old mismatching floor tiles and bringing the décor up to date with new grey flooring.
That’s not all – every room will be completely re-painted in white and grey, giving them a lighter, brighter feel, which is more in-keeping with the gorgeous seafront location.
Will there be anything new?
In short – YES! Not only will the building look fresher, it will also incorporate a whole host of new stuff!
- New flat screen smart TVs in the communal areas
- New fast speed Wi-Fi
- New and very handy on-site laundrette
- New, more efficient kitchen equipment
- New, more modern internal signage
When will it be finished?
We get it – if you’ve already seen the Clarendon building, you’ll know that this is a big project. But we’re on track to have everything finished in time for students to start the new term in September.
