Handover at Kirby Daniel Court

We are delighted to have received handover of 16 new homes and a bat house at Kirby Daniel Court, Pill, Newport.

The project was developed in partnership between Pobl Group, Encon Construction, GR Jones, Pentan Architects and Bradley Associates.

Prior to construction the plot was home to an unsightly and dilapidated older persons scheme, which Encon demolished prior to construction taking place. The houses were constructed using off-site manufactured timber frames, erected on site with a face brick envelope. Collaboration between Encon, Pobl, Castleoak timber frame and Pentan ensured maximum pre-fabrication off site, to reduce programme on site.

You can see the transformation in the video below:

The site team achieved a Considerate Constructor Scheme Performance Beyond Compliance Award, and Community Benefits on the project included Honor Goodsite Site Safety Poster Competition, virtual poster prize giving, community materials donations,  local Foodbank collection, traineeships and apprentice placements via Y Prentis, and an employment position for person previously unemployed.

We have worked closely with Newport City Council on the tenure mix for the development. The Council are keen to increase the proportion of homeownership in Pillgwenlly and the majority of the homes are being sold on a shared ownership basis together with a number of Rent to Own properties.

“It’s been a busy week at Encon completing our second project for the Pobl Group, and we are delighted to have handed over a scheme that has made a huge improvement to the local environment, whilst providing affordable homes for local people”. “These new homes at Kirby Daniel Court are the latest step in our on-going commitment to the regeneration of Pill, and are excellent examples of our mission to build genuinely sustainable homes and create places where people want to live. We are extremely impressed with the quality of these homes and will be welcoming customers to their new homes in the coming weeks.” Mark Trounce, Project Manager at Pobl Group
"It has been a real pleasure to receive properties of such consistently high quality and finish from all the trades involved in this project, especially in such difficult and unprecedented events of the last 16 months. The finished homes certainly meet the high expectations that we at Pobl Group strive to achieve on all our new projects." Gerry Gill, Project & Quality Supervisor at Pobl Group
