Countrywide Grounds Maintenance Wales have been awarded a new 5 year contract to provide grounds maintenance works, worth £3m, across a wide range of our housing stock across Wales.
Their 4 year contract with Charter to provide grounds maintenance services across Gwent recently came to an end. The new contract commenced on 1st April 2018 and reflects the Group’s greater geographical spread of homes and services, following the merger of Seren and Gwalia 2 years ago.
Nick Read, Gwalia Head of Housing said: “Gwalia Trades staff and contractors delivered a grounds maintenance service ‘in the west’ for many years and we have become used to a very high level of service from them. We are sure this will now be delivered to the same standard by Countrywide”.
The contract was awarded through a comprehensive competitive tendering process which considered quality and value for money, with Countrywide selected ahead of several other contractors.
Robert Bale, Estate Services Manager said:
“We look forward to building on our strong existing relationship with Countrywide through this major new contract, which will also create additional community benefits as well as employment and training opportunities.”
Countrywide will continue to provide a high quality, extensive all-year round grounds maintenance service, and have already linked up with Pobl’s community regeneration team to create a trainee project for young people.
As a further sign of their commitment, a Countrywide member of staff will also be on hand two days a week working from our Newport office, and Countrywide will again be sponsoring our annual Pobl in Bloom gardening competition.”
David Williams, Countrywide’s Operations Manager will be overseeing operations in the east and west said “We are delighted to have been awarded the grounds maintenance contract, and fully share Pobl Group’s commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service for it’s residents.
Countrywide aim to bring added value to its contracts and frequently go that extra mile, as we recently demonstrated when our grounds staff turned up to urgently clear a snow filled atrium and unblock the fire exits at Pobl’s housing with extra care scheme in Blackwood.
Both our quality of service and ability to foster new relationships has been key to retaining the contract with Pobl; two organisations working side by side, making a difference together in the communities in which we work.”
