City Vizion is an eye catching mixed tenure housing development sitting on the riverfront in Newport City Centre, within walking distance to Friars Walk. We recently caught up with one of Charter’s happy new residents, now she’s had time to settle in.
Janine and her son Jake were some of the first people to move in, after eagerly watching their new home being built, they were officially able to call it home in July.
“My son and I had been living with my Mum and Dad for a few years when we started looking for somewhere new to live. We wanted our own space for Jake to grow up in.
I started bidding for places but didn’t really think I’d get anything, so I was very excited when I got a letter saying that I’d been shortlisted for this flat” said Janine.
To apply for a home with a social landlord in Newport, you need to register with Home Options, a process Janine found simple.
“When I started looking to move, I registered on Home Options. It was easy to use, I could login and look at homes online. It was great to be able to use it on my phone, it meant I could check what homes were coming up and bid for them, even when I was on the go.
I didn’t expect anything yet, I’d been bidding for around 11 months when I found out that I fit the criteria for this home.”
Janine was contacted by a member of our lettings team who was able to confirm her new home at City Vizion.
“I was so excited to move in. At one point we were visiting the flats regularly before they had even been built, I would even lift my son up to the windows to take photos which he thought was funny.
It was definitely worth the wait, but to be honest I didn’t feel like I was on the waiting list for too long.”
Janine and her son Jake have now settled into their new home, they’ve decorated beautifully and have really made their home somewhere to be proud of;
“It feels like home, it almost doesn’t feel real. I can walk to work which is so nice, there’s nothing I’d change, I’m so happy to be here.
When it comes to finding the perfect place to call home, Janine has a lovely definition; “To me, home is somewhere where my son is happy, and where I can relax and switch off.”
And as for their new City Vizion home, it sounds like it’s for the long term; “I can see us calling this home for a long time to come!”
A big thank you to Janine and her son Jake for showing us around their lovely home.
City Vizion has been developed by Taylor Wimpey. Twenty ‘affordable homes’ were created for Pobl Group for discounted rent, social rent and shared ownership via a Section 106 Planning Agreement.
