The sun was beaming down, Cardiff was awash with an explosion of colour, positivity and pride and Pobl were very proud to be part of it!
Ten staff and people we support from across our Group, came together over the August bank holiday weekend to take part in Pobl’s first ever Pride Cymru.
From the get go our Pobl people fully immersed themselves in the wonderful carnival atmosphere, with everybody coming together to celebrate equality, diversity & inclusion for all, and to promote lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender (LGBT+) people’s rights.
The vibrant parade that marched through the centre of Cardiff was a sight to behold, drawing a large diverse crowd onto the streets. We were literally sharing the love, as our ‘Pobl Loves Pride’ love heart sweets were particularly popular and our snapchat filter used over 1100 times!
The main event which took place around City Hall, continued to bring many communities together and proved an excellent opportunity for networking with likeminded organisations.
Pobl had its own stall and we enjoyed speaking to people about what they felt we can do as an organisation for the LGBT+ community.
Harriet Bleach, Derwen’s Community Engagement Officer represented Pobl on the day, said:
“All the staff who went along, including our CEO Amanda were incredibly proud to represent Pobl and support Cardiff Pride. Armed with lots of inspiration from our first event, we are excited at the prospect of making next year’s ‘Pobl Pop Up Point’ even bigger and better!”
