Carols around the Christmas tree is rapidly becoming an annual tradition at Loftus Garden Village; our award winning mixed tenure housing development, in the centre of Newport.
In the true spirit of Christmas, the tree was very kindly paid for by members of our co-operative, known as Loftus Village Association, who certainly live up to their shared common goal of “creating a safe, independent and caring neighbourhood.”
Members can choose how to spend the profits they make from running their own housing management service and did not hesitate to take up the opportunity of providing this year’s Christmas tree and hosting a carol singing evening.
Over 30 carollers of all ages gathered around the tree, sitting majestically amongst the landscaped park. Expertly led by Pip from the local choir ‘jingle bells’ and ’12 days of Christmas’ could be heard across the garden village.
“Everybody had a lovely time, although our not so tuneful singing drew the attention of Millie, a spaniel puppy who howled along!” said Jill Stringfellow, Poblliving Sales Negotiatior.
“Mince pies and mulled wine were later enjoyed in the local Baptist Church, and the winners of the Christmas hamper raffle were announced – congratulations to Jack and Rebecca from Loftus Lane! Huge thanks must also go to the co-operative for organising the event”.
