On Saturday 11th February 2017, members from across Pobl and the Brother Project (a male focussed partnership between Charter and Bron Afon Community Housing enabling men to cope better with life’s challenges, and operating in the areas in which both HA’s operate) joined forces to support the charity ‘School of Hard Knocks’ in their World Record Attempt.
The School of Hard Knocks uses sport to tackle unemployment, crime and poor health and helps people take responsibility and take positive steps forward in their lives. They run courses throughout the UK, changing the lives of children and adults using rugby, boxing and strongman courses, supported by a curriculum of powerful life lessons.
This event was called ‘The Great British Scrum Push’ and the challenge was to scrum push a van, in relay teams of three, the length of a marathon.
Nine people took part as part of the Pobl/Brothers team and we were also joined by other organisations such as The Principality and local rugby teams to successfully complete the challenge in 5 hours, 28 minutes and 11 seconds.
It was a fantastic day and an amazing achievement for all those involved.
