A team of 35 staff from Pobl took Pudsey bear on an epic relay running between our head offices in Newport and Swansea, all in support of Children in Need.
The group comprised runners of all ages and abilities who daily make a difference to the lives of others through their work.
The idea for the challenge came from Tim Barker, Pobl’s Involvement and Inclusion Officer, who said:
“I’ve always wanted to do something big to raise money for Children in Need, and this year I am chuffed to say I finally have the fitness and ability to tackle this big challenge.
My inspiration for the relay came from my new found love of running, coupled with literally being sat daily facing Pobl’s company values; ‘positive, considerate and connected’ emblazoned on our office walls, which really resonates with me on a personal and work level.
So I thought the perfect challenge would be to run a relay, connecting colleagues from both our head offices, and knowing every stride is making an impact on the lives of young people across the UK, certainly spurred us on. I am so proud of everybody who took part.’
The 55 mile relay started at 8am at Pobl’s head office in Exchange House, High Street Newport, and took in several check points along the way – with Pudsey bear handed over as a batten to the next group of runners.
The runners passed through Cardiff, as well as Llanharan, Margam Park, and 9 hours later ended up in Kingsway Swansea, with a fully grown Pudsey bear to greet them. The target of £500 was smashed, and currently stands at £960 at the last count. Well down to all runners and big thank you to everybody who sponsored them.
