The construction of over 40 new homes will start on the site of a former social club in Swansea next month.
Bought from Swansea Council, the land on Trallwn Road in Llansamlet, has been empty since the Four Seasons club was destroyed by a fire in 2011.
Local construction company, Morganstone will build the 41 new homes on the site, made up of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, 2 and 3 bedroom houses and 2 bedroom bungalows.
Neil Barber, Director of Development at Pobl, said: “In conjunction with Morganstone and with strong support from the City Council, we’ve developed a great scheme that will provide a good mix of affordable homes in this popular residential area.
Both Pobl and the Council were really looking for this development to make a positive contribution to the local community. With this in mind, we’ve incorporated an area of public open space that will enhance the existing frontage by providing an attractive, green border with Trallwn Road.”
Cllr. Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, said: “This is the latest example of the council making best use of our estate…also helping meet the need for affordable housing in Swansea, this scheme will improve the look of the area, with proceeds from the sale being reinvested back into council services.”
