Derwen have been working in close collaboration with Public Health Wales and Community Housing Cymru to undertake a Health Impact Assessment, looking at the impact our new housing development of 39 apartments, and community hub, located in the Gaer area of Newport, will have on its local residents.
Vikki Hiscocks, Head of Active Ageing in Derwen said ‘The Health Impact Assessment is a really useful tool which will help us consider both the intended and unintended consequences of building these new homes, which will be ready for the first tenants to move in next Spring.
Derwen are passionate about creating opportunities for its residents to live healthy, independent lives within their communities and have placed active ageing at the heart of our new, innovative approach to older people’s housing.
The Assessment was carried out with local residents and other stakeholders and has provided a useful insight. We would recommend this process to other professionals when developing new services for older people’
