Planning committee approval for 44 new socially rented homes

Pobl Group’s development at Pencefnarda Farm, Penyrehol, was approved by Swansea’s planning committee on Tuesday 7th September 2021.

The new homes will provide much needed social housing for the local area, as well as a new substantial public open green and natural play area.

The development will comprise of 44 new homes in total, consisting of six one-bed flats, 18 two-bedroom houses, 18 x three-bedroom houses and two x four-bedroom houses.

In-keeping with Pobl’s commitment to placemaking, the site will feature many aspects to enhance the local environment. The new play space focuses on the natural surroundings, incorporating equipment such as an inclusive swing, double slide, wooden play equipment and boulders to create an inviting multi-level experience for all users.

Rain gardens will be created alongside the main road route of the site, with associated tree planting, creating a pleasant green streetscape for residents. Planting at the front of plots will include low maintenance species known to be of benefit for pollinators.

“We look forward to delivering these new homes which will provide high quality homes for local people in a truly beautiful setting. This scheme is an excellent example of Pobl’s commitment to building affordable homes and creating great places where people want to live. All being well we look forward to a start on site in early 2022, with a completion date in Autumn 2024.” Kathryn Morris, Project Manager at Pobl Group
