My role at Pobl

I’m assistant director for care covering Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire. This is my 27th year of working in the social care sector, and as is the same for the majority of us who sit on care SMT I have worked my way up, my very first shift was as a domestic at one of our extra care services in Swansea. I loved every minute of it.

I have responsibility for an amazing team of support workers team managers and registered managers who ensure we deliver the best care and support we can. 2020 has been the hardest year anyone could have ever imagined, when I see the amazing care and support provided by the care team makes me burst with pride and admiration for the work they do – every day striving to keep people safe, maintain and promote independence and supporting individuals to become valued citizens in the communities they live.

Why is the Pobl Trust is important to me?

I’m very fortunate in being selected as a trustee for the pobl trust – what an opportunity, it’s such an important and exciting role to have – the pobl trust aligns to my own values of wanting and striving to make a real difference to peoples lives and the communities they live. I cant wait for the first round of funding to begin.

I was unsuccessful for the first care role I interviewed for – but that didn’t put me off and I persevered.

Somethings you may not know about me….

Also randomly – after using the bathroom facilities when visiting a village in Cambodia I was informed it was the same one Angelina Jole used…..not sure how true this is but the local villagers were adamant this was the case….true or not this will be a story for my grandchildren in years to come. (I even took a picture of the toilet)
