Thrive (Cardiff)

Recipient of a Pobl Trust Award in 2021

Thrive (Cardiff) is a self funded, registered charity run entirely by parents & volunteers that helps support children and families with disabilities. Their aim is to offer children, their siblings and families a protective arena where they can play in an exclusive, non judgmental and supportive environment without prejudice.

In 2021, the Pobl Trust provided funding towards Thrive Cardiff’s fishing project at Liswery Pond. This project gives disabled children and young adults the chance to experience fishing with support and help, and to learn about nature and enjoy the health benefits of being outside. They even let Trustee Emily Saunders have a go!

"Thrive were delighted to receive the generous donation from Pobl. The money has been used to support our fishing session with Angling Watch UK who are based at Lliswerry pond. The power of fishing is truly amazing, the calming effects it has over our children is magical. We have regular session with our families and everyone gets involved." Cath Horton-Shaw, Chair of Thrive (Cardiff)
